Explosions and heavy gunfire rocked the frontier in Mohmand District as Operation Ghazab Lil Haq intensified along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border. Security sources said Pakistani forces launched a strong retaliatory response after what they described as cross-border aggression, targeting and destroying multiple positions allegedly used by Taliban fighters. The confrontation sent panic across nearby communities as tensions sharply escalated.
Officials stated that Operation Ghazab Lil Haq is part of a broader strategy to eliminate cross-border threats and reinforce national security along vulnerable frontier zones. Military sources claimed that several militants were killed during the clashes, adding to earlier reports of heavy casualties among insurgent groups. Authorities warned that any attempt to violate Pakistan’s territorial integrity would be met with swift and overwhelming force.
The escalation comes amid already strained relations between Islamabad and Kabul, with both sides exchanging accusations over rising militancy and border instability. Afghan Taliban representatives offered a conflicting account, claiming their Mansoori and Khalid bin Walid units carried out coordinated assaults on Pakistani positions. They alleged that installations were destroyed and several outposts were captured, further claiming significant losses among Pakistani security personnel.
However, Pakistan Army officials firmly rejected these assertions. A military spokesperson denied any loss of posts or troops, stating instead that security forces inflicted substantial damage on Taliban elements under Operation Ghazab Lil Haq. Authorities emphasized that defensive and retaliatory measures would continue to ensure border stability.
Government sources also revealed that the violence was not confined to Mohmand. Reports indicated exchanges in Kurram, Chitral, and Bajaur, where operations reportedly targeted militant hideouts and strongholds. Independent verification of casualty figures from either side remains unavailable.
The situation along the border remains tense and unpredictable. Residents in affected areas are on high alert as security forces monitor developments closely, while fears of further escalation continue to loom over the region.
