Opposition Leader in the National Assembly, Omar Ayub Khan, made several significant statements during his media interaction outside Adiala Jail, emphasizing the resilience of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) despite challenges and legal proceedings against its founder, Imran Khan.

Ayub reiterated the Supreme Court’s affirmation of PTI’s status as a political party, stating firmly that no one could ban PTI. He quoted PTI’s founder, Imran Khan, on the continuation of their fight for true freedom, despite the imprisonment of their leader.

Critically assessing the economic situation, Ayub pointed out the rising prices of essential commodities such as gas, petrol, flour, lentils, and sugar. He accused the current government of mishandling economic policies, including alleged profiteering from wheat imports and underselling assets during privatisation deals.

Regarding organisational matters, Ayub mentioned that the PTI founder had ordered restructuring within the party, indicating internal reforms amid external pressures.

Ayub also expressed concerns over the conditions at Adiala Jail, alleging interference from intelligence officials during their meeting with Imran Khan. He announced plans to summon authorities responsible for jail management and condemned intelligence agencies’ involvement in political affairs, urging them to focus on counter-terrorism instead.

In a bold political stance, Ayub declared intentions to reclaim seats lost by PTI and called for the resignation of the Chief Election Commissioner and commissioners, suggesting they should face Article 6 charges.

Looking forward, PTI leader Rauf Hassan affirmed their commitment to defend the party’s position and warned of potential consequences for Pakistan if PTI faced adverse actions.

Ayub concluded by confirming PTI’s plans for a rally in Islamabad, underscoring their ongoing efforts to mobilize support amid challenging political circumstances.
