The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority has increased the price of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG), adding more pressure on household budgets across Pakistan. The decision was announced through an official notification issued by OGRA.
According to the notification, OGRA has raised the LPG price by Rs78.28 per kilogram. This increase has pushed the new LPG rate to Rs304.12 per kilogram. The latest adjustment reflects ongoing changes in energy pricing and market conditions.
As a result of this hike, domestic consumers will face higher costs. An 11.8-kilogram household LPG cylinder has become Rs923.71 more expensive. The new price of a domestic cylinder now stands at Rs3,588.59. This change is expected to affect daily cooking expenses for many families.
The revised prices will come into effect from April 1. OGRA stated that the updated rates are part of its regular price review mechanism. These adjustments are usually based on fluctuations in international markets and local economic factors.
The increase in LPG prices comes at a time when inflation remains a key concern for citizens. Many households rely on LPG, especially in areas without access to natural gas. The higher cost may create additional financial challenges for low- and middle-income groups.
Energy experts say such price changes are influenced by global fuel trends. They also highlight the impact of currency exchange rates and import costs. These factors play a major role in determining LPG prices in Pakistan.
Despite the hike, OGRA continues to regulate petroleum and gas prices to maintain balance in the energy sector. The authority aims to ensure transparency while reflecting real market conditions.
