Indian singer Diljit Dosanjh has responded to the controversy surrounding the black marketing of tickets for his concerts, defending himself against accusations that he is responsible for the inflated prices. In a video shared on social media, Diljit expressed frustration over the situation, stating, “For some time now, there have been complaints in our country that ‘Diljit’s tickets are being sold in black.’ But how is it my fault that it’s happening?”
He pointed out that ticket scalping is a long-standing issue in India, dating back to the cinema days, and is not limited to his concerts alone. Diljit further emphasized his lack of control over the situation, asserting, “Blame me as much as you want. I don’t fear defamation. I have no tension.” He also quoted a poem by renowned poet Rahat Indori to underline his defiance in the face of criticism.

While addressing the black marketing issue, Diljit took the opportunity to encourage independent artists, such as Karan Aujla and AP Dhillon, whose tours have also sparked attention. “The time for independent music has come,” he said, acknowledging the challenges that come with this new phase in the Indian music industry. “Problems will arise, but when a revolution begins, challenges follow. We will keep working.”
Diljit further emphasized the importance of “vocal for local”, highlighting how previously, black-marketing tickets were mainly an issue for foreign artists, but now it affects Indian artists too. He encouraged independent musicians to double their efforts as Indian music continues to gain prominence.
Diljit’s Dil-Luminati tour has already seen successful performances across several cities, including Delhi, Jaipur, and Bengaluru, with upcoming shows scheduled in Chandigarh on December 14 and Guwahati on December 29.
