Norway, Ireland, And Spain's Recognition Of Palestinian State Marks A Major Breakthrough

In a significant development, Norway, Ireland, and Spain have announced plans to officially recognize Palestine as a state next week, aiming to promote peace in the Middle East.

Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Store stated on Wednesday that the recognition would be effective from May 28, emphasizing that the two-state solution is in Israel’s best interests. He stressed, “There can be no peace in the Middle East without recognition.”

Following Norway’s announcement, Irish Prime Minister Simon Harris declared that his country would also recognize Palestine. He stated during a press conference, “Today, Ireland, Norway, and Spain announce the recognition of the state of Palestine,” adding that each nation would take necessary steps to implement the decision.

Harris expressed confidence that more countries would join in this significant move in the coming weeks.

This decision will increase the total number of countries recognizing Palestine to 143 out of 173.

Meanwhile, Israel has recalled its ambassadors from Ireland and Norway immediately in response. Israel’s foreign minister criticized the move, stating, “Ireland and Norway are sending a message today to the Palestinians and the world: terrorism pays.”
