Kuching, Malaysia – Pakistan’s squash duo Noor Zaman and Nasir Iqbal clinched a silver medal at the Asian Doubles Squash Championship after a hard-fought final against India on June 26.
Despite a strong start, the Pakistani pair fell short against defending champions Abhay Singh and Velavan Senthilkumar, who staged a comeback to win 9-11, 11-5, 11-5 in a gripping 87-minute showdown at the Kuching Sports Complex.

Zaman and Iqbal had showcased remarkable resilience throughout the tournament. In the semi-finals, they overcame Malaysia’s Syafiq Kamal and Duncan Lee in a nail-biting three-game clash (10-11, 11-9, 11-9). Earlier, they outclassed South Korea’s Jiang Min Ryu and Jaijin Yoo 11-3, 5-11, 11-4 in the quarter-finals.
The second-seeded Pakistani duo had breezed through the group stages, securing dominant wins over Chinese Taipei (11-2, 11-9), the Philippines (11-7, 11-4), and South Korea.
Individually, Zaman had earlier competed in the Asian Individual Squash Championship, where he put up a valiant fight before bowing out in the pre-quarterfinals to Malaysia’s Joachim Chuah in a five-game thriller.
Though Pakistan narrowly missed the gold, their silver medal highlights their growing prowess in doubles squash on the continental stage.
