Accountability Court Issues Non-Bailable Warrants for Bushra Bibi in £190m Case

An accountability court in Rawalpindi has issued non-bailable arrest warrants for Bushra Bibi, wife of PTI founder Imran Khan, in connection with the £190 million National Crime Agency (NCA) settlement case. The case was overseen by Judge Nasir Javed Rana, with Imran Khan also present in court.

Although the Islamabad High Court (IHC) had previously granted bail to both Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi in the same case, the Rawalpindi court’s new order underscores the ongoing legal proceedings. The IHC’s earlier decision required a Rs. 1 million surety bond for their release.

Case Background:

The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has accused Imran Khan, Bushra Bibi, and others of misappropriating £190 million sent by the UK’s NCA to Pakistan. The amount was allegedly adjusted in favor of Al-Qadir University Trust, causing significant losses to the national exchequer. Imran Khan established the trust for the university project in December 2019.

Recent Developments:

Bushra Bibi has urged PTI workers to actively join the November 24 protest, describing it as a “do-or-die” movement against the government. She also criticized the alleged character assassination campaigns targeting her and her husband.

This case highlights the intensifying legal and political challenges faced by PTI leadership amidst growing scrutiny by authorities.
