The player draft for The Hundred 2025 took place on March 12, but no Pakistani cricketers managed to secure contracts, despite 45 registering for the men’s competition. This unexpected outcome left several high-profile names unselected.
Naseem Shah, who set his reserve price at £120,000, was the highest-priced Pakistani player. Others like Imad Wasim and Saim Ayub were listed at £78,500, while Shadab Khan, Hasan Ali, and Mohammad Hasnain had a reserve price of £63,000. Several players, including Mohammad Abbas and Haider Ali, registered without reserve prices but were also overlooked.

This complete omission surprised many, especially given that overseas slots remained available. In contrast, Afghanistan’s Noor Ahmad and New Zealand’s Michael Bracewell both secured £200,000 contracts, the highest among overseas signings.
The draft also saw a significant shift in The Hundred’s structure, as external investments entered franchises. Four teams are now backed by IPL owners, a competition where Pakistani players have been absent since 2008. England’s veteran James Anderson was another notable omission, while Australia’s David Warner signed his first Hundred contract, joining London Spirit for £120,000.
