PESHAWAR: The Peshawar Electric Supply Company (PESCO) has announced there will be no loadshedding on the 9th and 10th of Muharram 2025.

According to a PESCO spokesperson, uninterrupted electricity will be provided, especially for imam bargahs during these two important days. This decision aims to support the peaceful observance of religious events.

PESCO has set up 94 dedicated feeders to ensure smooth power supply across the city. A special control room has also been established to monitor the situation around the clock.

To further improve safety, PESCO has removed low-hanging wires along procession routes. This step will help avoid any risk of electric accidents.

Earlier, the district administration imposed Section 144 in Peshawar. The order includes a ban on pillion riding, aerial firing, and hate speech. Movement of Afghan refugees is also restricted during this time.

All hotel bookings, inns, and rent-a-car services have been suspended temporarily as part of the security plan.

The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee confirmed the start of Muharram on June 26. Ashura will be observed on July 6, 2025.

Muharram holds great spiritual value in Islam. The 10th day, known as Ashura, marks the martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and his companions in the Battle of Karbala.

The decision to suspend loadshedding shows the government’s commitment to ensuring peace and convenience during this holy month.

By avoiding loadshedding, authorities hope to support religious gatherings without interruption and maintain public safety throughout the observance.

This announcement by PESCO aligns with broader national efforts, as Government Claims Zero Load Shedding Across Pakistan during key religious days..
