New Speed Limit Announced on Highways and Motorways—Check Details

The National Highways and Motorway Police (NHMP) has announced revised speed limits on motorways and highways. The move comes as part of the federal government’s efforts to conserve fuel and improve energy efficiency.

Under the new regulations, motorcars and light transport vehicles (LTVs) can travel at a maximum speed of 100 km/h on motorways and 80 km/h on highways.

For public service vehicles (PSVs) and heavy transport vehicles (HTVs), the speed limit has been reduced to 90 km/h on motorways and 65 km/h on highways.

The NHMP said the changes are intended to promote more efficient fuel usage and reduce overall energy consumption. Officials added that these measures will also improve traffic management and road safety.

Authorities emphasized that compliance with the new speed limit is mandatory, and motorists should follow the guidelines to avoid penalties. The NHMP will enforce the rules strictly, and violators may face fines or other legal action.

The government has highlighted that controlling vehicle speed is an effective method to save fuel while maintaining smooth traffic flow. By reducing high-speed travel, vehicles consume less fuel, which helps manage the ongoing energy situation.

Officials also pointed out that the new speed limits are part of a broader effort to encourage responsible driving behavior. Drivers are urged to stay alert, follow road signs, and maintain safe distances while traveling under the revised limits.

The NHMP advised all motorists to be aware of these changes and plan their journeys accordingly. The updated speed limit rules apply immediately and will be monitored at multiple checkpoints across highways and motorways.

The new speed limits aim to balance road safety with fuel efficiency. Authorities believe that following these measures will help the country conserve fuel, reduce traffic accidents, and promote smoother travel for all road users.
