New Heatwave Warning Issued as Temperatures Expected to Soar Across Pakistan

Meteorological Department Warns of Intense Heat Wave Across Pakistan Until May 24

The Meteorological Department has issued an alert that most plains across Pakistan will be under the influence of a severe heat wave for the next four days, starting from today through May 24.

  • Temperature Rise Forecast:
    • Sindh, South Punjab, and Balochistan: Daytime temperatures expected to rise 4 to 6°C above normal.
    • Central & Upper Punjab, Islamabad, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan: Temperatures likely to soar 5 to 7°C above average.
  • Recent Temperature Highlights (Yesterday):
    • Dadu and Jacobabad: 48°C (highest)
    • Larkana, Rohri, Sibi: 46°C
    • Peshawar: 43°C
    • Lahore, Multan, Faisalabad, Muzaffarabad: 41°C
    • Islamabad: 39°C
    • Quetta: 36°C
    • Karachi: 35°C
    • Gilgit: 34°C
  • Weather Outlook:
    • Extremely hot and dry conditions expected in Islamabad, most districts of Punjab and Sindh, and throughout Balochistan.
    • Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will also largely experience hot and dry weather.
    • Light rain is forecast in some northern areas, including Abbottabad, Kohistan, Murree, and Galiyat, mainly in the afternoon and evening.
  • Precautions Advised:
    The Meteorological Department urges the public, especially the elderly, children, and people with health conditions, to take necessary measures to protect themselves from the extreme heat.
