On Friday, the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) announced its decision regarding the requests from ex-Wapda distribution companies (DISCOs) for Periodic Adjustment in tariffs for the Fourth Quarter of FY24.

NEPRA approved a positive quarterly adjustment of Rs. 43,230 million for the Fourth Quarter of FY24. This adjustment, amounting to Rs. 1.7432 per unit, will be applied over three months—September to November 2024—to all consumer categories, excluding lifeline and prepaid consumers.

Additionally, K-Electric consumers, excluding lifeline and prepaid categories, will also incur this adjustment of Rs. 1.7432 per unit, to be recovered over the same three-month period, according to their respective category rates.

Fuel Charges Adjustment

NEPRA also addressed the Fuel Charges Adjustment for July 2024 for DISCOs. The authority approved a reduction of Rs. 0.37 per unit in the monthly fuel charge adjustment for July 2024. This adjustment will be reflected in September 2024 bills.

The reduction will apply to all consumer categories except lifeline consumers, domestic consumers using up to 300 units, Electric Vehicle Charging Stations (EVCS), prepaid electricity consumers, and agricultural consumers of all DISCOs.

The negative adjustment due to the monthly Fuel Charges Adjustment (FCA) will also be applicable to domestic consumers with Time of Use (ToU) meters, regardless of their consumption level.
