NDMA Predicts Rainfall In Northern Regions Of Pakistan From Today

The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued a weather advisory, predicting rainfall accompanied by dust, wind, and thunderstorms in the northern parts of Pakistan from today (May 28) until Saturday (June 1).

All relevant institutions are urged to exercise caution during this period, as there is a risk of landslides and mudslides that could disrupt transportation networks in hilly areas.

According to the Met Office forecast, Islamabad/Rawalpindi, Murree, Galliyat, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, and several other cities in Punjab will experience dust storms, thunderstorms, and occasional rain from May 28 (evening/night) to June 1.

Similar weather conditions are also expected in cities of Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The NDMA has warned of potential flooding in local rivers and nullahs due to heavy rainfall, prompting relevant departments to stay alert.

Emergency response units have been instructed to remain on standby to address any flooding or landslides.

The district administration is tasked with evacuating residents from vulnerable areas and relocating them to safer locations to minimize casualties and property damage.

Furthermore, the NDMA cautions against the risk of damage to crops, electricity infrastructure, and other structures due to strong winds. The public is advised to avoid seeking shelter in weak structures during rain and to be mindful of the increased likelihood of lightning strikes during thunderstorms.
