Nationwide Crackdown: Multiple PTI Lawmakers Arrested Over Protest Call

In response to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) protests, law enforcement agencies across Pakistan have launched a major crackdown on party leaders and workers, leading to dozens of arrests. The operations are part of efforts to maintain law and order as authorities enforce strict measures, including targeting parliamentarians and members of provincial assemblies (MPAs).

Burewala:

Police intensified their efforts in Circle Burewala, arresting 65 PTI workers across various police stations. Arrests included:

  • 15 from Model Town
  • 16 from Gogo Mandi
  • 8 from Sadar
  • 10 from City
  • 9 from Sahuka
  • 5 from Sheikh Fazil

Safdarabad:

PTI MPA Waqas Mehmood Mann was arrested following a raid on his dera by police.

Chichawatni:

PTI MNA Rai Hassan Nawaz Khan was arrested by police from the National Highway at the Chichawatni bypass.

Multan:

Protests triggered in Islamabad led to the arrest of PTI leaders Malik Aamir Dogar, Zain Qureshi, Moinuddin Riaz Qureshi, and over 500 workers. Other notable arrests included Rana Tufail and activists from Lal Haveli Qadirpur.

Dera Ghazi Khan:

Authorities arrested over 38 PTI workers, including former Punjab Assembly member Sardar Mohiuddin Khosa and his elder brother.

Sahiwal:

Ahead of the November 24 protests, police arrested 30 PTI workers in an effort to prevent them from traveling to Islamabad.

Dunyapur:

Strict enforcement of Section 144 resulted in the registration of cases against 38 individuals across various police stations. All accused have been arrested, with DSP Mian Abdul Rauf emphasizing zero tolerance for violations.

Gojra:

Raids on PTI workers’ homes led to the arrest of MPA Asad Zaman Cheema, Malik Adnan, and Mian Asim, while many activists were reported to be in hiding.

Rawalpindi:

The city’s entry and exit points were blocked with containers, and over 110 PTI workers were detained. Special teams have been formed to apprehend active PTI workers listed by police.

These widespread arrests and security measures highlight the government’s response to PTI’s protests and the ongoing political tensions in the country. The crackdown has sparked debates about the limits of peaceful protest and the state’s authority to maintain order.
