The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has imposed a hefty fine of Rs20 million on Naseem Shah after finding him guilty of breaching several clauses of his central contract and violating the board’s social media policies.
The issue began on March 27, 2026, when the PCB issued a show-cause notice to the fast bowler, seeking an explanation over alleged misconduct. Following his written response, the matter was taken up by a three-member disciplinary panel, which held a personal hearing on March 30.
During the hearing, Naseem Shah reportedly offered an unconditional apology. However, after reviewing all aspects of the case, the committee concluded that multiple violations had indeed occurred, leading to the imposition of a significant financial penalty.
In addition to the fine, the PCB also took action against those associated with the matter. The board confirmed that Naseem’s social media adviser has been dismissed and will be blacklisted, meaning they will no longer be allowed to work with any cricketer under PCB’s authority.
In an official statement, the Pakistan Cricket Board emphasized its firm stance on maintaining discipline and professionalism. It reiterated that all players are expected to strictly follow contractual obligations and adhere to guidelines, particularly when representing the country on public platforms.
The board further stressed that such actions are necessary to uphold the integrity of the sport and ensure accountability at all levels. By taking strict disciplinary measures, the PCB aims to reinforce the message that no player, regardless of their reputation or status, is exempt from the rules and standards set by the organization.
