Bangladesh’s Nahid Rana, Support Staff Opt Out of Pakistan Tour Amid Security Concerns
Bangladesh fast bowler Nahid Rana, along with fielding coach James Pamment and conditioning coach Nathan Kiely, have withdrawn from the upcoming Pakistan tour.
Nazmul Abedin, BCB Chairman of Cricket Operations, explained that Rana’s decision is influenced by the hardships he faced returning from Pakistan amid ongoing border tensions between Pakistan and India.
Abedin confirmed that Rishad Hossain, who previously represented Lahore Qalandars in the PSL, will join the Bangladesh squad traveling to Pakistan. Though some players were initially hesitant to tour, they were reassured after seeing their teammates’ readiness.
Expressing confidence in the security arrangements, Abedin praised the Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi for top-level security assurances during the tour.
The three-match T20 International series between Pakistan and Bangladesh is scheduled to begin on May 28 at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium. Pakistan will be led by Salman Ali Agha, with Shadab Khan serving as vice-captain.
