Nabeel Gabol slams Khawaja Asif, hints at rift in PML-N ranks

Khawaja Asif’s Statement Draws Attention, PMLN Remains Focused on Stability

PPP leader Nabeel Gabol has shared his views on a recent statement by Defense Minister Khawaja Asif. Asif had referred to the current setup as a “hybrid government,” which raised questions within political circles.

Gabol said that Khawaja Asif’s remarks could point to a possible rift inside the PMLN. He added that the minister’s ties with party leader Nawaz Sharif may not be as strong as before.

However, PMLN has not issued any official response regarding internal tensions. Party members continue to emphasize unity and focus on governance.

Nabeel Gabol also stated that Khawaja Asif’s comments reminded him of past leaders. He mentioned figures like Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and Chaudhry Nisar, who made similar remarks before eventually leaving the party.

Gabol believes that if a sitting defense minister talks about a hybrid system, the prime minister must have taken notice. Still, there is no confirmation of any formal discussion within the PMLN on this matter.

He also highlighted Khawaja Asif’s age, saying he is 76 and may be nearing his political retirement. Despite this, Asif remains an active and senior voice within the PMLN leadership.

Gabol further commented on the PTI founder, saying he is in jail by personal choice. According to him, Imran Khan believes staying in prison helps maintain his popularity. Gabol said Khan wants to return to power directly from jail.

He also criticized the federal government’s treatment of Sindh in the latest budget. Gabol said the PPP had registered its protest over the issue.

Despite the criticism, the PMLN-led government continues to defend its policies. PMLN has stated that all provinces are treated fairly and that development is a shared goal of the coalition.

The party remains committed to maintaining stability and moving the country forward.
