The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Balochistan has reclaimed more than one million acres of forest land across the province. The recovered land is valued at over Rs. 1.3 trillion, making it one of the largest land recoveries in the region’s history.
According to NAB officials, the recovery was made after an extensive eight-month operation. The bureau worked in coordination with the Board of Revenue and deputy commissioners to remove illegal encroachments and prevent further misuse of government property.
The reclaimed land has now been handed over to the Balochistan Forest Department. This step aims to ensure better management and long-term protection of forest resources in the province. Officials noted that the operation reflects NAB’s strong commitment to safeguarding state assets and promoting environmental conservation.
A senior NAB representative said that the provincial government has established Forest Settlement Boards in every district and Forest Tribunals at the divisional level. These bodies will address disputes over land ownership and usage rights, providing a fair and transparent process for local communities and tribes.
In a related case, NAB Balochistan has launched an inquiry into the illegal allotment of government land in Miani Hore, located in Sonmiani tehsil of Hub district. The area was declared a mangrove-protected forest by the Forest Department in September 2022. However, local authorities later reclassified it as a new settlement area, inviting land claims that raised concerns about possible violations.

The ongoing inquiry seeks to determine how the protected forest land was re-designated and whether officials were involved in any unlawful activity. NAB reaffirmed that it will continue its efforts to protect public land, recover encroached properties, and ensure accountability across all government departments.
