NAB Recovers 80 Acres of Government Land in Hyderabad from Bahria Town

The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has recovered 80 acres of government land in Hyderabad. The land was allegedly illegally allotted to Bahria Town. The action was taken after a detailed investigation by NAB Karachi.

According to an official statement, the recovered land is worth around Rs6 billion. It is located in Deh Ganjo Takkar within the Gulshan-i-Sarmast housing scheme. Authorities said the land was under illegal possession for a long time.

The NAB investigation revealed that Bahria Town obtained the land through an alleged illegal allotment. The property was reportedly acquired for Rs383 million. Officials also stated that the payment was not fully completed.

The bureau added that the land was originally reserved for a university project. However, the required conditions were not followed. This violation led to further scrutiny by NAB officials.

After the intervention of NAB, the Hyderabad Development Authority cancelled the allotment. The land has now been officially repossessed. The partial payment made earlier has also been forfeited by authorities.

This recovery is part of broader efforts by NAB to address illegal land allotments across the country. The bureau has intensified actions against misuse of public property in recent months.

The case is also linked to ongoing legal proceedings involving Malik Riaz Hussain and other individuals. The accountability process includes several government and private sector figures.

In a related development, an accountability court recently issued perpetual arrest warrants in a land grab case. The warrants were issued against Malik Riaz, his son, and other accused persons.

NAB had earlier filed a reference in 2025. The case includes allegations of illegal transfer and conversion of state land. It also names Bahria Town owners, government officials, and political figures.

Officials say the investigation is still ongoing. More actions may follow as evidence is reviewed. The bureau has reiterated that NAB remains committed to recovering state land and ensuring accountability.
