NAB officer discovered dead in Islamabad guest house

A senior officer of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) was found dead under unexplained circumstances at a guest house in Islamabad’s G6 sector.

Waqas Ahmed, a Grade 19 officer serving as an additional director at NAB’s Head Office, was involved in investigating several high-profile corruption cases.

According to Islamabad police, his body was discovered in a locked room with no visible signs of violence. The exact cause of death remains unknown and will be determined following a post-mortem examination.

Investigations and High-Profile Cases

Hailing from Lahore, Waqas Ahmed had played a significant role in some of Pakistan’s major corruption investigations. He was actively involved in probing the OGRA scandal and the Haris Steel Mills case. Additionally, he was part of the NAB team responsible for the arrest of former OGRA chairman Tauqir Sadiq in a multi-billion rupee fraud case.

Family Reports Mental Stress

Although initial reports suggest no evidence of physical harm, Ahmed’s family informed the police that he had been experiencing severe mental stress in recent days. However, whether his death resulted from suicide or foul play remains uncertain.

Law enforcement agencies have launched a detailed investigation into the mysterious death, with forensic experts analyzing the scene. Authorities are also reviewing CCTV footage and questioning individuals who were in contact with Ahmed before his passing.
