NAB Freezes Over 10,000 Bahria Town Karachi Commercial Plots Amid Corruption Probe

The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has ordered the freezing of 10,468 commercial plots owned by Bahria Town Karachi, following a comprehensive investigation into allegations of corruption. The move came after the Director-General of NAB Karachi, Javed Akbar Riaz, uncovered substantial evidence implicating the real estate giant.

The inquiry revealed that Malik Riaz, the owner of Bahria Town, along with his associates Ahmad Ali Riaz, Zain Malik, and others, were involved in illegal land acquisition and allotment practices. NAB’s findings pointed to the unlawful acquisition of over 16,000 acres of land in Malir, which was facilitated through collusion with the Malir Development Authority (MDA).

As part of its actions, NAB Sindh confirmed that all commercial plots under Bahria Town’s control had been frozen, prohibiting any further transfers or allotments. The investigation also expanded after additional evidence suggested land encroachments beyond the initially allocated plots.

This latest crackdown adds to the growing list of corruption cases linked to land dealings in Karachi.
