Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to Inaugurate Jinnah Square Murree Road Underpass
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is scheduled to inaugurate the Jinnah Square Murree Road Underpass on Friday. City officials held a final review meeting on Wednesday to assess preparations ahead of the event.
According to a press release from the Capital Development Authority (CDA), construction connecting Srinagar Highway to Murree Road has been completed. Horticulture and landscaping work, including tree plantations and beautification efforts, are in the final stages. An urban forest is planned alongside the underpass to help mitigate environmental pollution.
CDA Chairman Mohammad Ali Randhawa instructed that all remaining work be finalized before the inauguration.
The meeting also covered other infrastructure projects such as the expansion of Faizabad Interchange, for which tenders have been issued. Officials reported that traffic congestion at 11 of the city’s 20 most crowded locations has been addressed, with ongoing work at the remaining sites.
Additionally, renovation and beautification of major roads are underway, featuring LED and decorative lighting, kerb stones, and fresh paint. Plans are also progressing for the Shaheen Chowk underpass and enhancements along Margalla Road, Murree Road, Faisal Avenue, and the Diplomatic Enclave, including modern lighting and tree planting
