Heavy snowfall has prompted authorities to limit movement on the Islamabad–Murree Expressway (N-75), with general traffic temporarily barred from traveling toward Murree. Officials said the decision was taken to ensure public safety as weather conditions deteriorated.
In an advisory issued by the National Highways and Motorway Police, the district administration confirmed that the Phoolgaran Toll Plaza entry point has been closed for regular vehicles due to hazardous road conditions caused by continuous snowfall. Accumulated snow has made the roadway slippery and difficult to navigate, particularly for non-essential travel.
Despite the restrictions, the expressway remains accessible for local residents and emergency services to ensure essential movement and response operations are not disrupted. Authorities said monitoring teams are actively managing the situation and assessing road conditions.
Officials have strongly advised the public to avoid unnecessary travel, cautioning that snowfall can rapidly reduce visibility, increase skidding risks, and lead to accidents, especially on mountainous sections of the route.
The temporary closure is part of wider winter weather impacts being felt across the region. Meteorological forecasts have earlier warned that Murree and nearby areas may experience a prolonged spell of snowfall, increasing the chances of repeated road closures and travel delays, particularly during peak traffic hours and nighttime.
Travelers have been urged to keep their vehicles properly prepared for winter conditions, stay updated through official advisories, strictly follow instructions from authorities, and delay travel plans until the weather improves and roads are declared safe.
