No More Multan Sultans as Team Will Now Represent Rawalpindi

The Pakistan Super League (PSL) has seen a major development as Walee Technologies officially acquired the Multan Sultans franchise. The auction, held today in Lahore, concluded with a winning bid of Rs245 crore, the highest ever in PSL history.

The new owners have decided to move away from South Punjab. Instead of retaining the Multan identity, the team will now represent Rawalpindi. Fans have already started calling the new squad the “Pindi Boys,” signaling a fresh start for the franchise.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) supervised the auction to ensure transparency and professionalism. All bids were submitted in Pakistani rupees, with a minimum increment of Rs1 crore. The structured bidding process allowed the offer to rise steadily to the record-breaking final amount.

During the auction, each participant had a single five-minute strategic timeout for internal discussion. Communication with rival bidders was strictly prohibited. Walee Technologies’ Rs245 crore bid went unchallenged, leading to their provisional victory.

The sale of the Multan Sultans franchise marks an important milestone for the PSL. Analysts believe that the new ownership could influence the team’s financial planning, branding, and player strategies. The move also highlights the growing commercial value of Pakistan’s premier T20 league.

While the Multan Sultans name will now be retired, cricket fans are eager to see how the Rawalpindi-based team performs in upcoming seasons. The PCB will finalize all formalities, including branding, management, and roster details.
