Motorway Police Raises Fines Significantly for Various Violations

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text dp_text_size=”size-4″]The National Highways & Motorways Police (NHMP) has significantly raised fines for various traffic violations, such as over-speeding, driving without a helmet, and using HID lights. Starting January 1, these increased fines aim to bolster road safety and ensure strict adherence to traffic rules.

The use of HID lights on roads under NHMP jurisdiction will now incur a hefty fine, escalating from Rs. 300 to Rs. 2,000, marking a substantial increase of Rs. 1,700. Additionally, fines for motorcyclists engaging in risky behaviors, like stunts, have surged to Rs. 5,000, up from the previous Rs. 300. Driving without a helmet now results in a Rs. 1,000 fine, compared to the earlier Rs. 200 penalty.

NHMP has also introduced a higher fine of Rs. 5,000 for passenger vehicles exceeding the designated passenger limit, an increase from the prior Rs. 1,500 penalty. The fines for over-speeding are now as follows: Motorcycles – Rs. 1,500, Cars – Rs. 2,500, Passenger vehicles – Rs. 10,000, and HTVs – Rs. 5,000.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
