Motorway Police Launches Crackdown, Registers 11 FIRs

The National Highways & Motorway Police has initiated a special enforcement campaign across its South Zone, including Karachi, to curb traffic violations and improve road safety.

The operation was launched on directives of Munir Ahmed Sheikh, Additional Inspector General, who instructed officers to take strict legal action against violators on highways and motorways.

Authorities said the campaign focuses on preventing accidents by targeting serious offenses, particularly involving public service and heavy transport vehicles operating without proper documentation or safety compliance.

During the past two days, enforcement teams registered eleven FIRs and issued more than 3,000 fines for violations including overspeeding, route permit breaches, overloading, and driving without valid licenses or fitness certificates.

Officials also launched a crackdown on motorcyclists for helmet violations, one-way driving, and unsafe riding practices. The department emphasized a zero-tolerance policy toward wrong-side driving, calling it one of the leading causes of fatal highway accidents.

The NHMP added that vehicles using worn-out or unsafe tyres are being checked rigorously, warning that strict action will continue. Authorities urged motorists to follow traffic laws to ensure safer travel for all road users.
