More than 3,000 People Arrested for Flying Kites in Punjab

A Punjab Police spokesperson revealed that 3,375 people have been arrested across the province this year for violating the Anti-Kite Flying Act, with 3,301 FIRs filed in related cases.

Authorities have seized 446,506 kites and 15,888 spools of string, and challans have been submitted in 3,060 cases. In Lahore alone, 1,010 individuals were arrested, 991 FIRs registered, and 24,824 kites along with 1,168 spools of string were confiscated.

In contrast, last year witnessed 12,525 arrests and 11,866 cases across Lahore and Punjab for similar offenses.

The Inspector General of Punjab has ordered strict enforcement of the amended Kite Flying Prohibition Bill. RPOs, CPOs, and DPOs have been directed to intensify action against those involved in the manufacture, sale, or flying of kites.

He emphasized that this dangerous activity must be dealt with firmly, enforcing a zero-tolerance approach. He also called for legal action against individuals selling kites and metallic string online.
