Mohsin Naqvi, Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), has announced measures to support the Pakistan hockey team, including job opportunities and medical care for players. The announcement comes as part of efforts to strengthen national hockey and support players’ welfare.
According to details revealed on Wednesday, national hockey team head coach Khawaja Junaid said Mohsin Naqvi confirmed that unemployed hockey players would receive jobs in the Capital Development Authority (CDA). He added that the Prime Minister had intervened to save the team from a challenging situation and deserved recognition for the effort.
Mohsin Naqvi also assured players that the PCB would continue assisting them in terms of fitness, rehabilitation, and medical care. He emphasized that the board’s support for hockey would remain consistent, as in previous years.
National team captain Imad Shakeel Butt praised the squad for its performance in the Pro League. Despite a loss against England in the final, the team displayed high-quality hockey. Butt expressed confidence that the players would continue to perform strongly in the remaining Pro League matches and the upcoming World Cup.
A PCB spokesperson said Mohsin Naqvi personally encouraged the team and acknowledged their efforts during a meeting. Khawaja Junaid added that ongoing support and motivation from the PCB would further enhance team performance.
The head coach also said players were asked to submit necessary documents for employment under the CDA initiative. He reiterated that Mohsin Naqvi had promised full backing for all national hockey players, ensuring their rehabilitation, fitness, and overall welfare.
