Recognition of Law Enforcement Efforts

During visits to D-Chowk and Khyber Plaza, Naqvi expressed gratitude to the Rangers, Pakistan Army, FC, and police forces from Islamabad, Punjab, and Sindh for their courageous efforts in dispersing the demonstrators.

He commended their bravery and emphasized the pivotal role of Rangers personnel, who led efforts to restore calm. Naqvi personally met officers stationed at D-Chowk, acknowledging their dedication in maintaining peace and order.

Clearing the Capital

Naqvi instructed the Capital Development Authority (CDA) to begin cleaning operations in areas affected by the protests, ensuring the removal of obstacles and restoration of normalcy. He also assessed damage to buildings and public facilities caused by the unrest, pledging measures to address the aftermath.

PTI’s Response

The PTI announced the cancellation of its Islamabad protest following the late-night operation. A party spokesperson condemned the crackdown, alleging that hundreds of peaceful protesters were injured, claiming they were “rained with bullets” on the streets of Islamabad. The party plans to consult its core leadership to determine its next steps.

Moving Forward

The minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to safeguarding the security of the capital city and stressed that acts of violence would not be tolerated. The operation marks a significant effort to maintain order in the face of political unrest, with further actions expected as both sides outline their respective courses.
