Mohammad Rizwan and Colin Munro Fined After On-Field Altercation in PSL Clash

Mohammad Rizwan, Colin Munro Fined for Heated Exchange During PSL 2025 Clash in Multan

MULTAN – In a rare on-field controversy during PSL 2025, Multan Sultans’ captain Mohammad Rizwan and Islamabad United’s Colin Munro have been slapped with fines following a tense altercation in last night’s match at the Multan Cricket Stadium.

The confrontation erupted after Munro made a provocative throwing gesture—commonly interpreted as “chucking”—towards Sultans’ all-rounder Iftikhar Ahmed. The move visibly agitated Rizwan, Pakistan’s ODI skipper, who approached Munro for a verbal exchange before on-field umpires intervened to calm things down.

PSL Code of Conduct Breach: Both Players Penalized

The Pakistan Super League’s disciplinary committee reviewed the incident and concluded that both Rizwan and Munro had committed a Level 2 violation of the PSL Code of Conduct, specifically breaching Article 2.13, which prohibits “personal abuse of players, officials, or support staff” during a match.

As a result, both players were fined 30% of their match fees. The decision was delivered by the match referee after a post-match hearing. Both Rizwan and Munro accepted the penalties, avoiding a formal disciplinary process.

Heated Moment Ends with Reconciliation

Despite the fiery incident, the game concluded on a positive note as cameras captured Rizwan and Munro reconciling after the final whistle, signaling no lingering hostility between the two.

This unexpected episode was a surprising deviation from the usual composed demeanor of both players. Rizwan is often lauded for his leadership and composure under pressure, while Munro has been a long-time PSL veteran and a consistent performer for Islamabad United.

PSL’s Stance on On-Field Discipline Remains Firm

The PSL’s strict enforcement of disciplinary rules reflects its commitment to maintaining professional conduct and sportsmanship across all matches. The incident serves as a reminder that even momentary lapses in behavior are subject to penalties.

While Islamabad United emerged victorious in the match, the Rizwan-Munro spat became a talking point among fans and pundits, momentarily overshadowing the cricketing action.
