Moeen Ali Signs with Karachi Kings before PSL 11

Preparations for Pakistan Super League (PSL) Season 11 are picking up pace, with Karachi Kings making a headline-grabbing international signing by bringing England’s Moeen Ali into their squad. The franchise confirmed that the experienced all-rounder has been signed directly on a deal worth Rs64.4 million, adding both skill and star appeal ahead of the upcoming tournament.

Moeen Munir Ali OBE, who previously served as England’s vice-captain in limited-overs cricket, represented the national side for a decade from 2014 to 2024. Known for his versatility, he has played domestic cricket for Yorkshire and earlier featured for Worcestershire and Warwickshire. His all-round abilities and leadership experience are expected to strengthen Karachi Kings significantly.

The development comes as PSL teams reveal their retention and release lists in preparation for the new season, raising expectations for a fiercely competitive edition of the league. Another major move includes Sialkot Stallions signing Australian batting great Steve Smith, further boosting excitement among fans.

Franchises have focused on maintaining a balance between experienced campaigners and fresh talent. Peshawar Zalmi continue to rely on captain Babar Azam, while defending champions Lahore Qalandars have kept Shaheen Shah Afridi as their leader. Islamabad United, Quetta Gladiators, and Karachi Kings have also retained key players such as Shadab Khan, Abrar Ahmed, and Hassan Ali.

At the same time, several big names including Haris Rauf, Fakhar Zaman, Naseem Shah, Sahibzada Farhan, and Saim Ayub will not feature this season, creating opportunities for emerging players.

Karachi Kings have further strengthened their lineup by retaining Hassan Ali, Abbas Afridi, Khushdil Shah, and Saad Baig. Meanwhile, Lahore Qalandars, Islamabad United, and Quetta Gladiators have reshaped their squads through strategic decisions.
