Federal authorities partially restored mobile and internet services on Sunday after a two-day suspension in Islamabad and Rawalpindi, following escalating tensions due to deteriorating law and order.

Services were initially cut off as Imran Khan’s supporters rallied in Islamabad, demanding his release while facing police resistance, including roadblocks and tear gas.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur led protests on the Islamabad-Peshawar highway, while PTI organized demonstrations in Lahore. The Interior Minister reported over 80 police officers injured during clashes and warned of disruptions to upcoming diplomatic meetings.

Amnesty International criticized the government’s actions, calling them violations of free expression and assembly rights. Imran Khan, facing multiple charges, remains barred from the upcoming February elections, which PTI claims were rigged.
