Mobile and internet services have been suspended across Pakistan for Muharram

In observance of Ashura (10th of Muharram) and to ensure the security of associated processions, authorities in several cities across Pakistan have implemented partial suspensions of mobile phone and internet services.

In Rawalpindi, mobile phone services have been partially suspended in various areas, including Cantt and Taxila, during the main procession on the 10th of Muharram. This measure aims to prevent any potential misuse of communication channels that could disrupt the peaceful conduct of the procession. Additionally, vehicles equipped with signal jammers have been deployed along the traditional routes of the procession to further enhance security measures. Relevant institutions have been advised to suspend mobile services.

Similarly, in Gujrat, mobile phone and internet services have been reduced as part of security measures during Muharram to maintain peace and prevent any untoward incidents during religious processions.

In Dera Ismail Khan and its suburbs, mobile phone services were completely halted on Ashura day to ensure strict control over communication channels and prevent any security threats.

Nankana Sahib also experienced a suspension of mobile phone services as part of the security measures implemented during this sensitive period. Furthermore, in Chiniot and surrounding areas, internet services were suspended to complement the efforts to maintain law and order during Muharram processions.

On the occasion of Ashura, commemorating the martyrdom of Imam Hussain (A.S.), processions across various cities in Pakistan are being conducted under stringent security measures to ensure the safety of participants. Security agencies across the country are taking extensive measures to protect the participants and maintain peace during these sacred events.
