Australia’s Mitchell Starc made history during the first ODI against Pakistan at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.

The Australian fast bowler claimed his 100th wicket on home soil by dismissing Saim Ayub, joining renowned players like Brett Lee, Shane Warne, Glenn McGrath, and Craig McDermott on this exclusive list. Starting the match with 99 wickets, Starc quickly reached the milestone by bowling Ayub out for a single run in his second over with a fuller delivery that clipped Ayub’s inside edge, hitting the stumps.

Starc concluded the first innings by dismissing Abdullah Shafique and Shaheen Afridi, achieving remarkable bowling figures of 10 overs, 3 maidens, 31 runs, and 3 wickets, which helped limit Pakistan to 203 all out.

At 34 years old, Starc has 244 ODI wickets to his credit, and given that home conditions typically benefit his bowling style, he is expected to accumulate many more wickets before retiring from the sport.
