A tragic incident occurred in Lahore when a gas cylinder explosion killed two people, including a minor girl. The blast took place in the city’s Lower Mall area, causing panic among residents and severe damage to nearby shops.
According to initial reports, the victims were identified as a 55-year-old man and a four-year-old girl. Both lost their lives on the spot, while two other individuals were injured during the explosion. Rescue teams reached the site immediately and shifted the injured to a nearby hospital, where they are said to be in stable condition.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the cylinder was defective and exploded while being filled at a local warehouse. Police have launched an inquiry into the matter and registered a case against those responsible for operating the facility. The accused reportedly include the warehouse owner and his assistants.
Authorities believe the explosion could have been prevented if proper safety measures had been followed. The incident has once again raised serious concerns about the lack of regulation and inspection at gas filling shops across Lahore.
Residents of the area have demanded stricter checks on gas cylinder filling stations to prevent such tragedies in the future. Experts have also urged regular inspections and better public awareness about handling and maintaining gas cylinders safely.
Officials confirmed that rescue and civil defence teams are continuing to assess the damage caused by the blast. A detailed report is expected soon to determine whether criminal negligence led to the fatal explosion.
