A government minister in South Africa experienced an unusual event where she was robbed, and her bodyguards’ firearms were stolen, according to authorities. This incident occurred on a highway south of Johannesburg as Sindisiwe Chikunga, the transportation minister, was driving.

The minister’s vehicle was stopped by tire-puncturing spikes, allowing the thieves to steal items from the occupants. Fortunately, both the minister and her security personnel emerged from the situation unharmed.

The criminals made off with two South African Police Service (SAPS) firearms and personal belongings, prompting a manhunt to bring them to justice. South Africa, known for its high levels of violent crime, has faced criticism for its handling of crime victims and justice issues. During April to June of this year, official figures reported over 500 robberies and more than 70 homicides per day in the country of 62 million people.
