[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text dp_text_size=”size-4″]Caretaker Federal Minister for Interior, Gohar Ejaz, has requested the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) to formulate a plan aimed at elevating exports to $5 billion from the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT).
During a meeting between the minister and a delegation headed by the President of ICCI at the Interior Ministry on Tuesday, the challenges faced by the business community were also brought to the minister’s attention.

The minister disclosed that a comprehensive plan has been devised, involving the division of the country into 39 sectors, to achieve the ambitious export target of $100 billion. Emphasizing the starting point as Islamabad, he urged the ICCI to present a plan by Friday outlining the strategy to reach the export goal of $5 billion. The minister highlighted the significant potential of the ICT in meeting the export target, citing its favorable location, climate, and educated population.
Pointing out the ample opportunities for IT, gems, and flowers exports from Islamabad, the minister underscored the pivotal role the business community must play in contributing to the nation’s development. He expressed the view that the Islamabad business community, recognizing the potential in various sectors, should actively engage in efforts to boost the country’s economy.
Moreover, the minister stressed the importance of the business community’s participation in overcoming the prevailing economic challenges by fostering an increase in exports. Encouraging a sense of corporate social responsibility, he urged the business community to actively contribute to the welfare of citizens. The minister emphasized that chambers should not solely focus on enhancing exports but should also work diligently towards social development initiatives.
