The persistent disparity between milk supply and demand has caused significant distress to residents of Hyderabad for the third consecutive day. Despite enduring long queues in the scorching heat, some managed to purchase milk while others left disappointed.

Dairy owners have attributed the shortage to increased consumption during Muharram, particularly for distribution at sabeels (water distribution points) and majalis (gatherings for remembrance of Muharram). This sudden surge in demand has overwhelmed the supply chain, resulting in inadequate availability of milk.

On Muharram 9, residents across the city queued up at milk shops. However, due to deliveries arriving only in the morning and evening, long lines formed outside shops, causing milk to run out prematurely in many locations on Tuesday. This left many residents frustrated after waiting for hours to buy milk, underscoring the severity of the supply issue during this period of heightened demand.
