Mild Earthquake Jolts Karachi, No Damage Reported

Light tremors were felt across several parts of Karachi in the early hours of Thursday, sparking brief panic among residents. The earthquake, which struck at 1:44am, had a magnitude of 2.6 on the Richter scale, according to the National Seismological Centre.

The epicentre was identified in the Malir area at a shallow depth of 10 kilometres. Tremors were notably felt in Quaidabad, Landhi, Shah Latif Town, and Malir, where residents reported a sudden jolt that lasted only a few seconds but was enough to create alarm.

Following the tremors, many people rushed out of their homes, seeking safety in open areas. Several were seen reciting Kalima Tayyaba, a common practice among citizens during such incidents, reflecting the fear and uncertainty experienced during the brief quake.

Authorities confirmed that no casualties or structural damage were reported. However, they have urged residents to stay alert and follow safety guidelines in case of aftershocks, even though the chances of significant seismic activity remain low.
