Microsoft Unveils New Features for Windows 11

Microsoft introduced a range of updates to Windows 11 in the first quarter of 2026, focusing on enhancing usability, strengthening system tools, and improving connectivity across devices. Rather than major overhauls, these updates aim to deliver practical improvements for everyday users.

One of the standout additions is the Cross-Device Resume feature, which allows users to seamlessly continue activities from their Android phones on their PCs. By using Phone Link and Link to Windows apps, users can resume tasks like music playback, browsing sessions, or work on applications such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint directly from the Taskbar.

The update also brings significant enhancements to Windows MIDI Services, expanding support for both MIDI 1.0 and 2.0. New capabilities include shared MIDI ports, custom naming, loopback functionality, and communication between applications—features that are particularly useful for musicians and developers.

A built-in network speed test has also been introduced, accessible through the Taskbar or Quick Settings, helping users quickly check internet performance and troubleshoot connectivity issues.

Security and accessibility have been improved with expanded support for external fingerprint readers under Windows Hello Enhanced Sign-in Security. Additionally, a new Device Information card in the Settings homepage now displays essential hardware details like processor, memory, storage, and graphics, with quick navigation to more detailed system information.

Microsoft has also extended Quick Machine Recovery to Pro editions, enabling automatic system recovery from startup problems. Sysmon (System Monitor) is now available as a native feature, allowing advanced system monitoring directly through Settings.

Other updates include support for WebP wallpapers and enhanced camera controls such as pan and tilt. Overall, these refinements make Windows 11 more efficient, flexible, and user-friendly.
