PCB had previously announced that the former national team coach would join the team for briefings before departing to complete his duties as Derbyshire’s coach.

The Pakistan Cricket Board’s Twitter account shared a video of Arthur greeting the Pakistan team upon their arrival at the team hotel in Islamabad.

The 54-year-old appears especially animated when speaking with Saim Ayub and Ihsanullah, both of whom he has backed to have a successful stint with the international team.

Arthur’s official title in the squad has yet to be announced, but he has been referred to as “Team Director,” with all departments related to Pakistan’s international cricket team reporting to him.

The South African/Australian will also be in charge of developing match strategies, which he will communicate to head coach Grant Bradburn and the rest of the coaching staff.

He will also be able to choose which assignments he will work on with the team.

From 2016 to 2019, Arthur was the head coach of the Pakistan cricket team, during a period of great success for the Green Shirts. Many in the PCB were unhappy with his dismissal, and Najam Sethi was especially eager to get him back into the fold under whatever circumstances he desired.

Mickey Arthur will play for Pakistan in the Asia Cup and the One-Day International World Cup later this year.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
