Meta AI has officially launched in Urdu in Pakistan, marking a major step forward in digital inclusion and accessibility for millions of users across the country.
The launch was announced during the “Future in Focus: AI and Innovation” event, organized in partnership with the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication (MoITT). The event highlighted Pakistan’s growing role in embracing artificial intelligence to transform governance, education, and business.
According to Meta officials, the introduction of Meta AI in Urdu aims to make technology more user-friendly and inclusive for Pakistan’s diverse population. Urdu-language integration will help users interact with Meta’s AI tools including Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp features more comfortably and effectively.
During the event, Meta also revealed the start of an experimental program focused on AI education and digital transformation for government institutions. The initiative will train professionals and students on AI applications, helping bridge the gap between innovation and implementation.
Representatives from the MoITT praised Meta’s contribution, noting that localized technology is essential for empowering citizens in the digital age. They emphasized that Urdu-language AI will make emerging tech more accessible to people in both urban and rural areas, supporting the government’s Digital Pakistan vision.
Experts believe the move will also encourage other global tech companies to localize their products for South Asian audiences, particularly in regional languages.
In related developments, Karachi Police recently arrested a trailer driver involved in the death of a Navy employee, reflecting the country’s focus on improving governance and law enforcement through better digital coordination.
Meta’s AI expansion marks a defining moment for Pakistan’s digital landscape, paving the way for greater innovation, education, and accessibility in the years ahead.
