Met Office Predicts Intense Cold Weather Across Pakistan

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted cold and dry weather conditions across much of the country in the coming days, with northern and mountainous regions likely to face particularly severe cold during mornings and evenings.

Temperatures are expected to fall further in Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, and northern Balochistan, bringing notably chilly nights, the PMD said. These areas may experience a significant drop in temperatures over the next few days.

In Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including Islamabad and nearby regions, fog or smog is expected during morning and evening hours, with intensity likely to increase. Cities such as Peshawar, Swabi, Mardan, and Dera Ismail Khan may see light to moderate morning fog.

Southern Punjab, Sindh, and central Balochistan are expected to remain mostly dry, though mornings and evenings may feel slightly colder.

Authorities have advised residents, particularly children, the elderly, and sensitive groups, to limit outdoor exposure and take necessary precautions during periods of high pollution
