A former medical examiner has suggested that Matthew Perry may have succumbed to an unidentified substance.

The 54-year-old actor passed away at his Los Angeles residence on October 28, where he was discovered unresponsive in a hot tub. He was interred at Forest Lawn Memorial Park cemetery on November 3.

Although the official cause of death remains undetermined and non-suspicious, comprehensive toxicology results are pending and expected in the coming weeks. Initial findings ruled out the presence of fentanyl or methamphetamines in Perry’s system.

Recently, former chief medical examiner Dr. Michael Baden proposed the possibility that Perry might have died from an unknown drug. Dr. Baden conveyed to Fox News Digital, “They’ve gathered about 99% of the available information, and they can choose to release it now or await a few more weeks as they investigate a potential unidentified substance.”

He elaborated, “They might still be conducting microscopic examinations, but it’s been nearly two weeks, so the toxicology report should be nearing completion.”

Perry’s death certificate, obtained by E! News earlier this month, was provided by his stepfather and affirmed the discovery of the actor’s lifeless body at his residence in the Pacific Palisades. The certificate disclosed that there were no other significant contributing conditions to Perry’s demise.

Emergency responders initially received a call for a “water rescue situation” at Perry’s residence, but unfortunately, he was found deceased on the scene. Authorities continue their investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death.

In commemoration of Perry’s passing, heartfelt tributes have poured in from both fans and fellow colleagues since the sad event.
