Massive Indian Medicine Smuggling Racket Worth Billions Exposed

Pakistan Customs has uncovered a large-scale smuggling operation involving substandard Indian medicines worth billions of rupees, with local pharmaceutical companies allegedly implicated in the illegal trade.

Customs Collector Moinuddin Wani announced at a press conference in Karachi that authorities raided a warehouse in Korangi and confiscated Indian medicines valued between Rs5 billion and Rs10 billion. He explained that the raid was triggered by intelligence reports indicating the presence of harmful Indian medicines at the facility.

Described as the largest medicine smuggling bust in the country’s history, the operation also led to the arrest of several individuals involved in the illicit trade. Wani noted that the confiscated stock includes 22 million tablets and 7,000 capsules, primarily made up of narcotics and painkillers.
