Maryam Nawaz Announces Colleges, Land Scheme for Farmers

Maryam Nawaz has announced a sweeping development package aimed at transforming southern districts through education, agriculture, and welfare initiatives, calling it a major step toward balanced regional progress. She said the government’s strategy focuses on practical solutions that directly improve livelihoods, infrastructure, and opportunities for underserved communities.

Addressing a public gathering, she revealed that new medical, law, and agriculture colleges will be established in Mianwali to expand higher education access locally. Officials believe the move will reduce student migration to big cities while boosting regional skills, professional training, and economic growth across surrounding rural areas.

She also confirmed that the Apna Khet, Apna Rozgar program will launch next week, designed specifically to empower low-income farmers. Under the initiative, eligible applicants will receive three to five acres of land along with official Kisan Cards, enabling them to cultivate crops, access agricultural subsidies, and secure financial stability.

Highlighting agricultural reforms, the chief minister said more than 21,000 tractors have already been distributed among farmers during the past two years. She noted that mechanization is essential for increasing productivity, lowering manual labor costs, and helping small growers compete in modern farming markets.

Maryam stressed that development projects are continuing across Punjab without discrimination, adding that public welfare remains her administration’s central priority. She also announced a Ramadan relief initiative that will provide Rs10,000 financial assistance to nearly four million citizens to help them manage rising household expenses.

Concluding her remarks, she pledged sustained progress and service for people across Pakistan, saying long-term prosperity depends on education expansion, farmer empowerment, and inclusive economic planning. Officials described the combined initiatives as a comprehensive roadmap aimed at reducing poverty, strengthening rural economies, and improving social mobility.
