IPP South Punjab President Rafaqat Ali Gillani Praises Armed Forces, Calls for Separate Province and Development in Layyah
Syed Rafaqat Ali Gillani, President of Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP) South Punjab, expressed strong support for Pakistan’s military leadership on Friday, stating that under Field Marshal Gen Syed Asim Munir, no hostile force can threaten the country’s sovereignty.
Speaking at a major party convention in Layyah, Gillani saluted the armed forces for their steadfast defense, particularly highlighting their response to Indian aggression.

“We are proud of Field Marshal Asim Munir. Under his command, no one can threaten the sovereignty of our homeland,” he said, praising the military as the cornerstone of Pakistan’s security.
Gillani also reiterated the party’s long-standing demand for the creation of a separate province for South Punjab, urging that it be included formally in the party’s manifesto and political agenda.
Addressing local development needs, he called for Layyah to be declared a division, noting incomplete infrastructure such as the connecting roads to the Layyah-Taunsa Bridge. He also emphasized the urgent need for a medical college in the region.
Highlighting economic concerns, Gillani drew attention to the hardships faced by farmers in South Punjab and urged the party to adopt farmer-friendly policies.
He expressed gratitude to IPP President Abdul Aleem Khan for his recent visit to Layyah and recognition of the region’s issues.
