Mariyam Nafees, who became a mother for the first time in March with the birth of her son Isa, already has a clear idea of her ideal family size—two children. During her appearance on Hasna Mana Hai, the Ishq Jalebi actor jokingly remarked, “Two kids are enough! You’re already raising your husband—he’s like a kid too!” She added that a boy and a girl would complete her family.

Parenting as a Team

Mariyam and her husband, filmmaker Amaan Ahmed, shared their joy on Instagram earlier this year, announcing the safe arrival of their baby boy. Throughout her pregnancy, Mariyam kept her followers updated, sharing milestones and personal moments.

While she teased Amaan about being a “manchild,” Mariyam acknowledged how well they work together in raising their son. Despite lacking extended family support in Karachi, she emphasized that a helpful and supportive partner can make parenting manageable.

“Having grandparents around helps, but a supportive husband makes all the difference,” she said. Confident in their shared values, Mariyam said she’s not concerned about whether Isa resembles her or Amaan. “We’re both morally sound,” she added, noting that many people say the baby looks like his father.

Mariyam’s confidence in her new role as a mother shines through on social media. Earlier this month, she encouraged fellow moms through Instagram Stories, urging them to trust their instincts. “Listen to everyone, but do what you feel is right,” she advised. “You know what’s best for your child.”

Reflections on Acting and Industry Advice

Though she’s currently on a break from acting, Mariyam hasn’t lost touch with her craft. Reflecting on her career, she named her most emotionally challenging role as Khajista in the 2017 drama Yaqeen Ka Safar, where she portrayed a victim of domestic abuse.

Mariyam also had advice for fellow stars. She said she’d like to see Kabhi Main Kabhi Tum actor and producer Fahad Mustafa venture into film production, praising the quality of his drama projects.

When it comes to Qarze Jaan actress Yumna Zaidi, Mariyam suggested she try her hand at satire, believing Yumna could excel in comedy. Given Yumna’s recent powerful performances—from journalist to cricketer—Mariyam’s idea for a lighter, comedic role seems refreshing.

Hania Aamir vs. Mahira Khan? Not a Competition

When asked about Kabhi Main Kabhi Tum star Hania Aamir, Mariyam playfully hesitated, saying, “What advice could I give Hania?” She believes Hania’s star power matches that of Mahira Khan, noting both women are globally recognized and represent Pakistan in a positive light.

“Why compare them?” Mariyam asked. “They’re both superstars, beautiful, and celebrated worldwide. That’s more than enough.”
