Pakistan’s veteran weightlifter Maqsood Rathore won a gold medal at the World Masters Games in Abu Dhabi, bringing international recognition to the country.
The 66-year-old competed in the 95kg bodyweight category, lifting 55 kilograms in the snatch and 65 kilograms in the clean and jerk. His total lift of 120 kilograms secured him the top podium position, outperforming competitors from several countries.
According to Pakistan Weightlifting Federation Media Coordinator Sohail Javed Butt, Rathore’s performance demonstrated remarkable strength, discipline, and focus, especially given his age. He was accompanied by Nafees Ahmed of Karachi, the official representative of the federation, throughout the event.
This gold medal adds to Maqsood Rathore’s already distinguished career.
