Ken Wilson, a Vacaville, California resident, found out he had been covering his neighbor’s electricity bill for almost 20 years.
After observing unusually high charges on his Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E) bill, Wilson tried to cut down on his electricity use but noticed that his meter continued to run even when his power was turned off.

Following an investigation, the utility company confirmed that his meter had been incorrectly linked to a neighboring unit since at least 2009, although Wilson believes the problem may have started as far back as 2006 when he moved in.
